The 12th Transportation and Communication Council, whose main theme is "Logistics-Mobility-Digitalization", started with the participation of senior officials and sector stakeholders from many different countries from abroad.
Minister of Transport and Communications Adil Karaismailoğlu made the opening speech of the 12th Transportation and Communication Council, which will last for 3 days, where mega transportation projects, the development of economy and transportation corridors that will support transportation and holistic development in the post-Covid-19 world, regional problems and solution proposals will be discussed. Stating that the heart of the transportation and communication world will beat in Istanbul for 3 days, Karaismailoğlu noted that the communication and transportation sectors are among the pillars of the economy in the global world. Pointing out that we are living in a highly developed phase of the communication and transportation era, Minister Karaismailoğlu said; "It is no longer possible for countries to compete in the globalizing world without having a healthy communication and transportation infrastructure. We live in an information age where the advances and innovations of technology accelerate the flow of time. Concepts such as far-near, known-unknown, familiar-foreigner have become meaningless, borders have become transparent, and barriers to mutual interaction have been largely removed."
We will be among the 10 countries that can produce communication satellites
Karaismailoğlu said, "We are achieving great successes in space aviation by setting the bar even higher with the motto "The Future is in the Skies", and noted that in order for Turkey to have a say in space, we are building multi-purpose observation and low orbit satellites, especially communication satellites. Reminding that the communication satellite Türksat 5A was launched into orbit on January 8 and put into service in June, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that television and data communication services are provided in a wide geography spanning 3 continents. Speaking at the opening of the Council, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, "Now we have Türksat 5B and 6A satellites. The design and production phases of Turksat 5B have been successfully completed. The assembly, integration and tests of our National Communication Satellite Turksat 6A are continuing at the Space Systems Integration and Test Center in Ankara. We plan to complete the production and testing process of the satellite by the end of 2022 and launch it in the first quarter of 2023. When we realize this, we will be among the 10 countries that can produce communication satellites."
The outputs of the 12th Transportation and Communication Council, which started at Atatürk Airport Terminal C Event Center and will last for 3 days, are expected to be "Turkish Transportation Policy Strategy Document", "Road, Maritime, Railway, Airway and Communication Sector Reports" and "Logistics, Digitalization, Mobility Vision Reports" with the support of Sector Working Groups, vision board and academic advisors.
High-level local and foreign speakers from 5 sectors including land, rail, sea and air routes and communication will take part in panels, and there will be Minister and Deputy Minister level participation from various countries.
At the event, where many stakeholders and industry leaders set up booths, Türksat took its place at booth A104 in Terminal C at Atatürk Airport. Following the opening speeches, Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, toured the booth area, while Dr. Ali Taha Koç, President of the Presidential Digital Transformation Office, visited Türksat's booth. Türksat A.Ş. General Manager Hasan Hüseyin Ertok, Deputy General Managers Abdulkadir Şener, Dr. Selman Demirel and Ahmet Savaş welcomed visitors at Türksat's booth.
